Reading your favourite newspaper easier in South Taranaki

Reading your favourite newspaper is now easier in South Taranaki.  In late 2014 South Taranaki District Council received a grant of $9,000 towards providing access to six touch screens providing access to ‘Press Display’ newspapers in South Taranaki Libraries.

PressReader is a database that allows current access to thousands of full content, digitally enhanced newspapers and magazines from around the world. The database has multi-lingual content and is great for residents and visitors to the region; as locals and tourists can read or print something from the paper in their own language. Of course the Taranaki Daily News is still the hot favourite!.

Branch librarian in Hawera Ann-Louise Vonk said since receiving the two large touchscreens for PressReader, they have been “a fantastic addition to the library. For library patrons who have never used a touchscreen before this is an opportunity to gain confidence in learning a new technology”.
